On May 11, 2009, Meet the North conference attendees and Edmonton businesses were invited to a unique panel discussion designed to help businesses embrace the diversified workforce and consumer market. Workforce Diversity Edmonton, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and On-Site Placement Services partnered to present Shifting Gears, which featured six powerful speakers whose messages clearly showed the power of inclusive businesses. Workforce Diversity Edmonton was proud to host Canada’s first Dining with Diversity event on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. Created for business by business, this event featured an evening of fine dining filled with lively, informal discussions led by a professional with a disability. This spring, Workforce Diversity Edmonton partnered with Employabilities to present a series of eight breakfast and lunch presentations on creating inclusive workplaces. These Breakfast with Business and Lunch and Learn sessions featured business leaders speaking to an audience of their peers to share their successes in addressing business issues surrounding the employment of persons with disabilities.
