Tell us about your business!

Indigenous Box is a subscription box and corporate gifting company based at the Edmonton International Airport Sustainability Campus. We curate beautiful, meaningful gifts using products made by Indigenous entrepreneurs and ship them to customers across Canada and around the world.

Co-Founder Mallory Yawnghwe grew up in Saddle Lake First Nation and has seen firsthand the economic barriers Indigenous peoples face. Since March 2021, she and her husband Kham have gone from shipping just a few boxes from their basement to sending tens of thousands of packages worldwide.

What started as a small operation has grown into a movement. Our customers are helping drive dollars directly into Indigenous economies, all through the power of intentional purchasing. We’ve worked with hundreds of Indigenous entrepreneurs, helping them grow their businesses by connecting them with new markets.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on expanding our supplier network, strengthening our operations, and deepening our impact through long-term, values-aligned partnerships. For us, that means working with organizations committed to reconciliation in action, by choosing to support Indigenous businesses through their gifting, procurement, and community engagement efforts.

How has being an Edmonton Chamber member impacted your business?

Being part of the Edmonton Chamber has helped us feel rooted in the local business community even as we grow nationally. It’s given us the opportunity to build relationships with other local leaders and gain visibility for our mission.

What initiatives are you undertaking to better our Edmonton business community?

We’re focused on growing the Indigenous product supply chain: a challenge that requires creativity, partnership, and mentorship. We work closely with our suppliers to help them scale their operations, because when they grow, we can grow. It’s a circular relationship.
We also believe that businesses can play a transformative role in economic reconciliation. We actively advocate for more inclusive procurement practices and create real opportunities for Indigenous makers to participate in Edmonton’s growing economy.

Is there anything else you'd like to share?

We believe Indigenous business is modern, powerful, and full of potential. We’re proud to represent a growing number of Indigenous entrepreneurs who are reclaiming space in the economy and shaping a stronger future for all Canadians.

Edmonton has a unique business community, and we want to highlight hardworking Edmontonians with a story to tell.

Each month, we feature two members in the Business In Edmonton Magazine and take an opportunity to share their story and find out why they enjoy doing what they do. Follow along each month as we feature members while helping amplify their stories on our website and social media platforms.

If you are interested in this opportunity to be highlighted as a Chamber Member, please complete our application form.
