In July 2025, Edmonton Chamber members from across the hospitality sector sat down to share the real challenges and opportunities they face. Hotel and restaurant owners alike are responding to growing pressures due to safety concerns, reduced weekday demand, and regulatory friction.
What we heard was clear: the accommodation and food service sector is under acute strain, with noticeable drops in hotel occupancy below the viable range of 60-70 percent. Simultaneously, downtown restaurants are reporting shuttered lunch service and persistent safety concerns that suppress evening activity.
The insights gathered directly from our members will help shape the Chamber’s advocacy to push for clearer policies, stronger support, and the conditions Edmonton hospitality businesses need to thrive.
