What's Happening?
On June 26–27, 2025, Edmonton City Council will vote on whether to extend the Downtown Community Revitalization Levy (CRL)—a self-funded, proven tool for revitalizing Edmonton’s core. This decision will directly impact the future of our downtown, our economy, and our quality of life.
The extension would help fund the City’s recently endorsed Downtown Action Plan, a blueprint for growth, vibrancy, and public safety—without raising taxes on residents or businesses.
We encourage you to read and share our fact sheet and toolkit on the Community Revitalization Levy, and submit a letter of support if you’re ready.
Where the CRL Makes a Difference
Every dollar invested through the CRL stays downtown until the loan is repaid—then those tax revenues support services across the city. Extending the CRL through 2044 would:
- Fund up to 2,500 new housing units
- Help accommodate the 64,000+ new Edmonton residents annually
- Create vibrant, complete neighbourhoods in underused spaces
- Support a safer, more inclusive, and economically resilient downtown
