The Policy Committee is the Edmonton Chamber's body for shaping member-driven advocacy. Made up of a diverse set of Chamber members, we discuss and develop positions on issues affecting Edmonton's business community.
What We Do
We focus our efforts on issues that affect the economy, impact business competitiveness and profitability, touch many Chamber members, and present viable opportunities for meaningful change.
Our committee operates on a structured policy cycle—from identifying emerging issues through monitoring media and member feedback, to developing evidence-based positions, to working with Chamber leadership on strategic advocacy.
Our Approach
We believe good policy sits at the intersection of economic evidence, government priorities, and business realities. Because Edmonton businesses span 20 sectors, we focus on finding solutions that deliver net benefits to our business community.
When urgent issues arise, we're equipped to respond quickly with streamlined decision-making processes. We also set strategic priorities annually to ensure our advocacy efforts align with the most pressing needs of Edmonton businesses.
Broader Impact
The influence of our policy committee reaches far beyond the city. Each year, the Edmonton Chamber has the unique opportunity to submit policies to both the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce to be included in their advocacy efforts as well.
